Fotos de mis clases

During the 2016-2017 academic year, I am a teacher at Westlane Middle School in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Our students take the equivalent of level one Spanish at the high school over their three years here.  We are on a block schedule, with class every other day for 83 minutes.  This year I teach three sections of Beginning Spanish and three sections of Advanced Spanish.  I have a total of 147 students.  Fifty-seven of my 79 Advanced students, who are completing level one this year, are registered to take the National Spanish Exam.

All of my classes have set jobs and procedures that allow for student autonomy and leadership.  This also gives me time to individually conference with students, look at homework, and privately check for understanding.  Here are a couple examples of my Beginning students at work!

My Advanced classes are preparing Carrozas de Carnaval.  We are currently in a shopping unit, so they are tying our chapter vocabulary in with the cultural aspect of the celebration.  They will present their floats in a parade later this week!
